Acrylic vs Brass Soap Stamp: Which One Should You Choose?
Share
Short answer: choose an acrylic soap stamp if you make cold process soap, want the lower price, or also stamp clay. Choose brass if you make melt and pour soap, candles or leather goods and want a deeper, crisper impression that lasts. Most soap makers are better off starting with acrylic.
We make both in Kolkata, so we're not trying to push you towards one. They're built for different jobs, and picking the wrong one is an expensive mistake to find out after your first batch.

Why cold process soap makers should choose acrylic
This is the deciding factor for most of our customers. Metal contact with fresh cold process soap can react with the soap's ingredients and cause rancidity over time. Acrylic doesn't have that problem.
So if cold process is what you make, the decision is already made. Buy the acrylic soap stamp.
Acrylic has a second advantage people don't expect: you can see through it. On a small bar, being able to line your logo up exactly with the edges makes a visible difference to how professional the finished bar looks.
When brass is worth the extra money
Brass costs roughly twice as much, and for the right maker it earns it.
- Melt and pour soap makers who want a deeper mark. Keep cling wrap or a thin plastic sheet between the brass and the soap.
- Makers who work across materials. The same brass debossing stamp marks clay before drying or firing, candle wax and soft leather.
The brass head is detachable. Wipe off soap or clay straight after use and dry it completely before you store it. Our brass stamps aren't meant for use on food.
Which size should I choose?
Choose by your logo shape and the top face of your bar. The rule of thumb: your stamp should be about 1cm smaller than the face of the bar, which puts most 100g bars at 4cm or 5cm. Our soap stamp size guide has a full table. If you're between two sizes, WhatsApp us your logo and a photo of your bar and we'll tell you which one fits.
Can I buy more than one?
Yes. Acrylic stamps are buy 2, get 1 free, and there's a 3-stamp acrylic bundle if you want a different design for each product line. Current deals are on our offers page.
Our recommendation
Starting out, or making cold process? Acrylic. It's cheaper, it's safe for cold process soap, and it covers clay too.
Already selling melt and pour bars alongside candles or leather goods, and want one premium stamp for all of them? That's when brass makes sense.
