The final quality of the stamp depends on the quality of the file you upload. Solid black line art works best; photographs and gradients do not stamp cleanly.

Getting a Clean Impression

Place a small stack of paper under your surface as a cushion. Press firmly from the centre of the handle first, then rock gently towards each corner. Larger stamps need more even pressure than small ones — practise once on scrap paper before your first real impression.

Frequently asked questions

What size stamp do I need for my box or bag?

The rule that works is that your stamp should be 60 to 75 percent of the width of the panel you are stamping. A large shopping bag at 8 x 10.25 inches takes a 6 inch stamp, a medium shopping bag at 8 x 9 inches takes a 5 inch stamp, and a large flat bag at 9.5 x 13 inches takes a 6 or 7 inch stamp. Anything smaller than that starts to look lost on the panel.

Does a large rubber stamp come with an ink pad?

No, and this catches people out. A rubber stamp needs a separate pad, and a 5, 6 or 7 inch stamp needs an oversized pad rather than a normal desk one. Message us with your size and we will tell you which pad to buy.

Will a large rubber stamp work on poly mailers or glossy boxes?

No. Water-based pad ink beads up on plastic, laminated and glossy surfaces and never dries. For those you need a permanent pre-inked stamp. This stamp is for kraft, paper, cardboard, cartons, fabric and wood.

Why is my impression patchy in the middle?

Almost always uneven pressure rather than a fault in the stamp. Large stamps need the pressure spread across the whole plate, not concentrated where your hand sits. Put a small stack of paper underneath as a cushion, press down from the centre of the handle, then rock gently to each corner before lifting straight up.

Which ink colour works best on brown kraft?

Dark colours. Black, navy, forest green or dark brown all read clearly on kraft. Lighter colours disappear into the brown, and metallics need a much smoother surface than kraft to hold an edge.

Can I use it on fabric tote bags?

Yes, with a fabric ink rather than a standard pad ink, otherwise it will wash out. Stretch the fabric flat over a hard surface before pressing, because any slack under the stamp gives you a broken impression.

Will I see a proof before you make it?

Yes. We share a design proof on WhatsApp and nothing is engraved until you approve it. Check the spelling, phone numbers and spacing carefully at that stage, because the stamp is made exactly as approved.

What artwork should I send?

Solid black line art on a white background, 300 dpi or better, as PNG, JPG, PDF or AI. Photographs and gradients do not stamp cleanly at any size. If you only have a photo of your logo, send it anyway and we will tell you whether it will reproduce before you pay.
