Custom Pre-Inked Permanent (Glossy) Stamp: Frequently Asked Questions

The pre-inked permanent (glossy) stamp uses a different ink formulation from our matte stamp, made specifically for surfaces that resist ordinary ink. Here's what to know before ordering.

What is this stamp made for?

Permanent ink formulated for glossy surfaces, plastic, metal, poly mailers, glossy boxes, and laminated or coated packaging — surfaces where ordinary ink smudges or won't set.

How is this different from the matte stamp?

They use two distinct ink formulations. Matte ink is made for paper and kraft; glossy/permanent ink is made for plastic, metal, and coated surfaces. Using the wrong one on the wrong surface gives a smudged or unset impression.

What sizes are available?

Several sizes, from 3cm × 3cm up to our largest, 8cm × 5cm, plus a few in-between formats such as 6.5cm × 3cm and 6cm × 2cm for wordmarks.

What ink colours can I choose?

Black, blue, red, and green.

Is the ink genuinely permanent?

It's formulated to resist smudging and stay set on plastic, metal, and coated surfaces far better than standard ink — but like any ink, results depend on the exact surface material, so if you're stamping an unusual coating, tell us and we'll advise.

Can I use this on paper as well?

You can, but our matte stamp is formulated specifically for paper and kraft and will generally give a cleaner result there. Use glossy/permanent for plastic, metal, and coated surfaces.

Does the 8cm × 5cm size fit any logo shape?

Yes — 8cm × 5cm is a maximum print area, not a fixed shape. Your design is fitted proportionally within it, so a round logo prints round and a wide wordmark uses the full width.

How do I get a clean impression on a larger stamp?

Press down firmly and evenly across the whole face in a single motion. Larger stamps need consistent pressure across the plate — rocking or uneven pressure will leave a patchy result.

How should I store this stamp?

Keep it capped when not in use so the ink doesn't dry out, and store it clean, dry, and away from direct sunlight or harsh chemicals.

How long does dispatch take?

Typically 2–5 business days after artwork approval. Pre-inked stamps are among our quickest to make, at around 2 days, though this can extend depending on current order volume; dispatch only happens on working days (Monday–Friday), which is why the window spans a few days.
