Custom Rubber Stamp: Frequently Asked Questions
Share
A custom rubber stamp is our traditional, wooden-handle stamp for everyday stamping. Here's what customers ask most before ordering one.
What is a rubber stamp used for?
Everyday, general-purpose stamping — on paper, cardboard, fabric, kraft tags, envelopes, wood, and plastic. It's the most versatile stamp in our range in terms of surfaces, and can also be used to stamp candles.
Does it come with a handle?
Yes, every rubber stamp is mounted on a wooden handle for a comfortable, controlled grip.
Do I need to buy ink separately?
Yes. Unlike our pre-inked stamps, a traditional rubber stamp is used with a separate ink pad, which lets you switch ink colours freely.
Can I use a rubber stamp on fabric, and will it last through washing?
Yes. For a permanent result on fabric, use archival ink — it's formulated to resist fading and washing far better than standard ink. Tell us it's for fabric and we can advise on the right pairing.
Can a rubber stamp be used on candles?
Yes — a rubber stamp is one of the options we recommend for stamping candles, alongside our dedicated brass candle stamp.
What sizes are available?
Multiple sizes to suit different logo shapes and applications — tell us your intended use and we can recommend the right size before you order.
How is this different from a pre-inked stamp?
A rubber stamp needs a separate ink pad and lets you change ink colours between uses. A pre-inked stamp comes ready-inked in one fixed colour for faster, repeated use.
How do I clean a rubber stamp?
Wipe with a damp cloth or a mild stamp cleaner after use, and remove excess ink promptly to maintain a crisp impression.
How should I store it?
Keep it clean and dry, away from direct sunlight, and avoid harsh chemicals or excessive heat, which can damage the rubber over time.
Will the rubber wear out with use?
Rubber stamps may show ink staining over time; this is cosmetic and doesn't affect the quality of the impression. With proper care, they're designed to last for years.
How long does dispatch take?
Typically 2–5 business days after artwork approval. Rubber stamps take a little longer to make than pre-inked stamps, and dispatch only happens on working days (Monday–Friday), which is why the window spans a few days.
